Rules Around the Barn

Our Facilities

Our facility features an indoor arena, outdoor arena, and round pen, trails, and hay field, spacious stalls, and top-quality feeding program. Our facility is designed to provide a safe and comfortable environment for both horses and riders.

Barn Rules

  • ALL RIDERS and GUESTS must sign a liability release upon arriving on property.
  • ALL RIDERS 18 years and younger must wear a riding helmet with a fastened safety harness at all times while on a horse regardless of discipline.
  • ANYTIME A MINOR IS ON PROPERTY THEY MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY A PARENT, TRAINER OR AN ADULT DESIGNATED BY THE PARENT. IF MINOR IS RIDING A HORSE THE ADULT MUST BE IN THE ARENA WITH THEM AT ALL TIMES.
  • ALL JUMPING MUST BE SUPERVISED BY A TRAINER.
  • If you are the last one at the barn, please be sure that ALL GATES ARE CLOSED and ALL LIGHTS ARE TURNED OFF.
  • WASH STALLS AND CROSS TIES must be clean and free of debris and manure after each use. Please pick out your horses' hooves before entering the wash stall.
  • Please do not leave personal items in the WASH AND GROOMING STALLS (i.e. buckets, soap, brushes, etc)
  • DO NOT ride horses in the aisles.
  • FEEDING OF HAY AND GRAIN AND BEDDING OF STALLS, is only done by staff. In case of an urgent need ask staff or management to assist with hay, grain or shavings.
  • IF you are not an Employee of Emerald Valley Stables and you take Hay, Grain or Shavings without permission from management you will be charged.
  • Barn staff will feed exactly what is listed on feed card, these must be kept up to date by Trainer and Staff, Owners cannot make changes to feed card.
  • Any horse on layup and not allowed turnout must have it clearly stated on stall "NO TURNOUT".
  • OUTDOOR PADDOCKS on days staff does not turn out horses, clients may use paddocks but must remain on property while horse is out. Clients are not permitted to feed hay to horses in outside paddocks.
  • Please PICK UP MANURE IN THE ARENAS.
  • Use of Jumps in Indoor arena: remove all fences, poles and blocks immediately after use.
  • LUNGING IS NOT PERMITTED IN THE ARENA; it can be done in the round pen. Bit rigging or working in hand is not considered lunging. Riders have priority and rigging or working in hand should only be done when ring is not occupied.
  • TURNING OUT HORSES IS NOT PERMITTED IN THE INDOOR ARENA.
  • Please DO NOT PARK OR BLOCK ANY GATE on property, NO CARS ARE TO BE PARKED IN LOWER BARN AREA. (exception made for Vets and Farriers)
  • WHEN THE TRACTOR IS IN THE INDOOR/OUTDOOR ARENA NO ONE IS PERMITTED TO RIDE OR HAND WALK A HORSE IN THE ARENA UNTIL THE TRACTOR LEAVES.
  • NO DOGS ALLOWED ON PROPERTY.
  • NO OUTSIDE TRAINERS ARE ALLOWED TO TEACH ON PROPERTY.
  • PLEASE BE COURTEOUS and cooperate by exercising all aspects of good horsemanship.
  • ALL FALLS MUST BE REPORTED IMMEDIATELY TO TRAINER AND MANAGEMENT.
  • ANY DAMAGE TO BARN OR PROPERTY, OR ANY ISSUE AT BARN MUST BE REPORTED TO MANAGEMENT IMMEDIATELY.
  • Barn Owner/Manager has final say to questions of rule interpretation.
